I issued a Challenge on my Sketch Club Blog and yet I never posted my sketches, LOL. Here are my sketches from Independence Day weekend, done in my Art House Coop Sketchbook. Both were done down at the Jersey Shore.

Goals for the Week of 8/2

Well, here's the second time I am posting my goals.

This week's goals are:

1)Work on that new website!

2)Minimum of two posts a week on my blog and try to post at least once a day to my FB page. Wow, I haven't been on FB for a while.

3) Get some of my Art house pages posted up here.

4)Work on some Egg Tempera paintings, get out and see if I can withstand plein air painting again (bum wheel, ankle is still healing and standing at an easel can be tough.) My goal, at least one painting a week.

5)Sketching and Journaling, more more more....learn how to make my own sketchbook!

Switch Off Sunday

I participate in Switch Off Sunday that Leonie started on www.goddessguidebook.com. I think it's a great idea so I try to stay away from the laptop on Sundays.

So I am posting this Saturday and leaving you with one of my Art House Coop sketches...we went to Blue Point to sketch with our sketch group, I quickly did this before the storm of the century showed up....a more accurate sketch would be to give this one a slate grey sky, LOL.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Goals updates

Ok, I dropped the ball a little with the minimum of two posts a week, but I did accomplish some of my goals. I've been taking classes and doing a lot recently and haven't had a minute to play on the computer, I guess that's a good thing that my time wasn't spent surfing, LOL.

1) I submitted FOUR paintings to the Patchogue Walking Arts Tour (WAT). One of which is the one above that's been sitting in my studio for a while until I was ready to finish it. I started this in Chincoteague a while ago, never finished it. I was standing by the channel painting the Assateague Lighthouse. I was never entirely happy with this painting so I finally popped it up on the easel in my studio and gave it a whirl. I submitted this to the WAT as well as two I did of East Point Light in NJ, one was a pastel and the other was a little egg tempera I did. I also touched up my Higbee Beach painting and submitted that as well.

2) I have been working in my Art House Sketchbook. Posts on those pages will be coming. Been having a lot of fun with that book. Ordered Golden's Absorbent Ground so I can beef up those pages more for wet work. Found out from Gwen Diehn's book that using tube acrylics makes the pages sticky (doh!! found that out the hard way!!).

3) Haven't worked on my new website in a while, need to work on that again. I'll put that on my to-do list for next week.

4) Yep, posting on FB and my blog took a slide these past two weeks. I'll put that on my Monday to-do list.

Overall, I am happy that I got my WAT submission in. That was my primary goal and I achieved it!

A week at the Shore

Between the holiday and going away, been a little lagging with my posts. I have to post my Independence Day Challenge photos, when I get a second to photograph them. We are in Sea Isle City, NJ. My sister and mom rented a house and asked us to come down. The house is right on the back bays, over looking the salt marsh. I love the the marsh....it's a sea of green. We went down to Townsend's Inlet (top photo) to hang out because it was hot and we could sit in the shade of the bridge. While we were down there, a Laughing Gull strolled by. They are little beggars and they have a loud laughing call, but I missed the little feather brains, we don't have these guys on Long Island. I had a bit of a tough time getting his picture because he wouldn't hold still and I was using my IPhone camera. As my grandmother would say, they are "comical."
