More Snow Hill Paintings

Here are the other three paintings from Paint Snow Hill...The painting of the shop front was done with gouache from the car.  It was wet and windy so it made more sense to paint inside the car.

Paint Snow Hill 2011 - The two sold paintings

These photos don't do the paintings justice at all, they were taken while they were hanging on display during the Snow Hill Wet Paint Sale.   Both of these paintings sold, unfortunately, these are the best photos I have of them.  Note to Self, take the photo before taking it off the easel.  I painted five paintings and sold these two.  I'll post the other three when I can pop them out of the frames and retake the pictures.

This was a great paint out.  Ann is a wonderful host and the outing was very well organized. I am so glad I finally had the weekend open where I could participate.  I love painting the Maryland and VA Eastern Shore and with the exception of Saturday, the weather was mild.  I didn't want to leave.

I learn something every time I paint plein air.  This time it was dealing with the wind, or not, LOL.  I brought along gouache paint and did one painting from the inside of the car because standing in the wind just wasn't working for me.  I can paint with gouache similar to how I paint with pastel, so it makes a good back up medium  for me.

International Fake Journal Month (IFJM) 2011 - Which Journal?

Here is the journal I am going to use.  It has eco friendly paper made from the bark of a Lokta plant that grows in abundance in the Himalayas.  It's a handmade book from women cooperatives in Nepal.  I figured this would be an appropriate choice.  The paper is going to be a challenge with wet work, I think, but if I can survive the Moleskine Cahier sketchbook that we used for The Sketchbook Project, I can work with anything.

I am going to try writing with a fountain pen since the ol' BIC pen sure wasn't around in the 1800's.  Too bad I can't find one of those feather quill pens.  :-)

This first page, the elegant lady is welcoming spring with the tulips that were forced in her greenhouse.   This is actually for April 1st, but I didn't get a chance to post it until today.

And just for the record, I am taking many artistic licenses here, I will try what I can to be accurate to the time, but I'll be stretching things a bit, LOL.

International Fake Journal Month (IFJM) 2011

Well I am going to do the International Fake Journal again, this time, I am going to play the role of the Elegant Lady from my Sketchbook Project story....Chloe is going to be Gigi, my "French Chihuahua."

IFJM is for fun, it's about living a life in your sketchbook/journal as a different person, as Roz says, "life's so short, why live one?"

So stayed tuned for pages out of my IFJ.  Now, which sketchbook should I use????

The page below on the left is one of my Elegant Lady pages...I never finished the story, now I am going to pick up where I left off...
